Craniosacral Therapy, Muscular Therapy and Reiki  are different means to the same end - deep relaxation, relief from daily stress and the stress of chronic conditions, and relief from pain and tension.

Craniosacral Therapy is a deeply relaxing treatment that calms your nervous system, allowing all body systems to function at their highest level.  You receive the treatment fully clothed; the therapist uses light touch to free restrictions that block the flow of fluid surrounding your spinal cord, potentially freeing up all of the nerves of the body.  This treatment complements treatments for a variety of concerns, from chronic muscle pain and tension to neurological complaints.  Some conditions and issues that Ellen has treated with Craniosacral Therapy include:

Muscular Therapy is a muscle-specific massage technique.  By working on specific muscle groups, muscular therapy relieves muscle tension and increases circulation to reduce the effects of muscle strain, recent activity, and chronic conditions.  In addition, Ellen has specialized training in working with ligament and tendon injuries, especially in the elbow and ankle.  For motivated clients, Ellen can also teach self-care methods to continue and enhance relaxation between visits.

Reiki (described elsewhere) balances the body's energetic systems.  Reiki treatments can be effective when other types of bodywork are not appropriate, or Reiki can enhance the effect of other work. 

Treatments can be  experienced separately or combined based on your needs and desires.  Client-centered treatments will be designed based on your initial discussion with Ellen.  Ellen also incorporates techniques from myofascial release, zero balancing, and visceral manipulation when appropriate.

Ellen Duff  is a 1995 graduate of the Muscular Therapy Institute (now Cortiva Institute).  She has practiced in Kingston and Manomet/Plymouth since 1995, incorporating Reiki since 1999 (Reiki Master Teacher since 2004) and Craniosacral Therapy since 2002.  In addition to her hands-on work, Ellen teaches in the Massage Therapy Program at Cape Cod Community College and teaches continuing education for bodyworkers.
